UEL Ice Challenge - Oct 2010

Architecture student designed and & built ‘ice cube’ test cells to compare how quick the ice melts in cells built to UK Building Regulations standard and a PassivHaus. 

The process was filmed and shown at the main Passivhaus Conference in Islington on Oct 11th.

" The experiment shows that with careful detailing and construction, the Passivhaus airtightness standards can be achieved. It also highlights that, compared to a standard Building Regulations cell, the Passivhaus test cell is indeed significantly better at keeping a 'cup of tea' warm, as well as keeping cool and recording more stable internal air temperatures",
